Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the 2028 GLA, which will be offered with both all-electric and hybrid powertrains.
The 2028 Mercedes-Benz GLA places a strong emphasis on acoustic comfort. Mercedes engineers improved cabin sound insulation with optional laminated glass, elastomer chassis mounts, and a dual-isolated electric motor. The crossover also features a new 850-watt audio system with 16 speakers that can direct sound to specific seating areas and adjust the depth of the audio experience.
As with other Mercedes-Benz models, the new GLA will be available with several personalization packages, including AMG sport packages that add front bucket seats, 20-inch wheels, red seat belts, and other upgrades. A black exterior package and microfiber interior upholstery are available as options. The cabin also features trim finished in natural wood, fiber, and matte aluminum.
The all-electric version of the new GLA is powered by a single motor producing up to 268 horsepower. Higher trims add a second electric motor for a combined output of up to 349 horsepower. That version accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds. The battery supports DC fast charging, adding up to about 168 miles of driving range in 10 minutes. The crossover offers a maximum driving range of up to about 408 miles.
The all-wheel-drive GLA features five drive modes, including one designed for off-road driving. In that mode, an underbody camera displays the terrain beneath the vehicle.
The hybrid version is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 48-volt system and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Maximum output is 187 horsepower. In this configuration, the crossover can coast at speeds of up to about 37 mph with the transmission disengaged.
The new Mercedes comes equipped with several driver-assistance systems that work with 12 ultrasonic parking sensors, five radar sensors, and eight cameras. Standard equipment includes traffic light and brake light recognition. Higher trims add automated parking, a wheel rim damage warning system, and intelligent navigation. The crossover also comes with lane-keeping assist, adaptive distance control, and other driver-assistance features.
Inside, the GLA features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch center touchscreen, and a matching 14-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. The infotainment system is integrated with artificial intelligence.
