New unofficial renderings suggest the refreshed Genesis G90 could receive a redesigned front end, upgraded driver-assistance technology, and a new hybrid powertrain.
Unofficial renderings of the refreshed Genesis G90 have appeared online, created by the YouTube channel NYMammoth. If the predictions prove accurate, the flagship sedan will receive a completely redesigned front end, new autonomous driving technology, and a hybrid powertrain.
The Genesis G90 is the flagship sedan of Hyundai's premium Genesis brand. The current generation debuted in 2021 as the first Genesis model to fully adopt the brand's signature design language with two-line lighting elements.
According to South Korean insiders, Genesis has recently begun work on a major update for the G90. An independent designer from the YouTube channel NYMammoth has already presented a rendering of the future model based on available information and previously published spy photos. The most significant change is expected to be a completely redesigned front end. The brand's signature grille is shown with a much lower visual profile, while the new lighting design becomes the focal point.
Based on the renderings, the two-line headlights are connected by a light strip running along the front edge of the hood. The design is inspired by the Genesis NeoLun concept and is intended to make the sedan appear wider and lower.
The grille is not expected to disappear entirely. Instead, the main air intake is likely to move to the lower section of the front bumper and feature a diamond-pattern design. Previously spotted prototypes also suggested the use of a partially open grille design rather than a fully open or fully closed layout.
Beyond the exterior updates, significant technical changes are also expected. According to preliminary information, the refreshed Genesis G90 could become the first Korean-built vehicle equipped with a Level 3 autonomous driving system (HDP).
The system is expected to handle driving on its own under certain highway conditions using a combination of lidar, radar sensors, cameras, and a dedicated autonomous driving control unit. Test vehicles have also been spotted with new cameras mounted at the base of the A-pillars.
The interior is also expected to receive updates. Instead of the current integrated digital display, the sedan may feature a new digital instrument cluster with three round gauges while retaining a more traditional layout.
The powertrain lineup is expected to continue offering a 3.5-liter gasoline engine. A new hybrid powertrain based on a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine may also be introduced, combining higher performance with improved fuel efficiency.
According to preliminary information, the refreshed Genesis G90 could debut in the second half of this year. A hybrid version is expected to follow the gasoline model at a later date, according to reports.
