Subaru is reportedly preparing an all-new Levorg with updated styling, a new S:HEV hybrid system, and a more advanced interior.
Subaru continues development of the next-generation Levorg wagon, which, according to preliminary reports, could debut as early as the fall of 2026. While the automaker has yet to release official details, early information from Japan points to updated styling, a new S:HEV hybrid powertrain, and significantly upgraded technology.
The Subaru Levorg debuted in 2014 as a sporty wagon positioned between the Impreza and Legacy. The second generation arrived in 2020 on the Subaru Global Platform, and the lineup expanded in 2023 with the Levorg Layback crossover wagon. Over the years, the Levorg has become one of Subaru's best-selling models in Japan.
According to preliminary reports, the next-generation Levorg could make its debut in October or November 2026. Subaru has not officially confirmed the timing, so all specifications and launch details remain unconfirmed. Based on the available information, the wagon will receive a substantially revised exterior. Expected changes include slimmer LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights, a redesigned grille with chrome trim extending into the lighting units, and a new two-tier front-end design.
The profile is also expected to change, with new body sculpting, black wheel arch trim, and a redesigned rear section featuring a more pronounced lower fascia.
The biggest mechanical update is expected to be the new S:HEV hybrid powertrain. According to preliminary information, it will combine Toyota's Hybrid System (THS) with Subaru's signature all-wheel-drive system. Compared with the current 1.8-liter turbocharged engine, the hybrid version is expected to improve fuel efficiency by about 43%, while also delivering quieter operation and a smoother driving experience.
Inside, the new Levorg is expected to feature a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, an 11.6-inch vertical HD touchscreen, and a voice assistant with artificial intelligence capabilities.
The vehicle's dimensions are also expected to change slightly. Overall length could increase by about 0.4 inch, while height may decrease by about 0.2 inch, giving the wagon a sleeker appearance.
The engine lineup is expected to begin with a 1.8-liter turbocharged boxer engine. A version powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer engine may be introduced later.
According to preliminary reports, the S:HEV hybrid will pair a 2.5-liter boxer gasoline engine producing 160 horsepower with an electric motor rated at 120 horsepower. Engineers are also targeting an average fuel economy of approximately 47 mpg.
Preliminary information suggests the new Levorg will cost about $700 more than the current model, depending on trim level. The S:HEV hybrid variant is expected to start at approximately $27,000.
