Opel has officially announced a new all-wheel-drive modification of the Grandland electric crossover, becoming the first battery-powered model in the brand's history to feature an AWD system. Unlike the standard front-wheel-drive version, the new model has an additional electric motor on the rear axle, significantly enhancing its dynamic characteristics.

The powertrain of the all-wheel-drive Opel Grandland consists of two electric motors: the front develops 213 hp, while the rear produces 112 hp. In maximum mode, their combined power reaches 325 horsepower and 509 Nm of torque. This enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds. The motors are powered by a 73-kilowatt battery, providing a range of up to 501 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. Fast charging can recharge the battery from 20% to 80% in less than half an hour.

Engineers have provided several operating modes for the powertrain. In standard mode, power is limited to 313 hp, and torque to 450 Nm. The all-wheel-drive and sports modes utilize all available power, but with different traction distribution algorithms. In sports mode, the steering settings are also altered. The economy mode primarily uses the front motor (213 hp), with the rear engaging only when a sharp acceleration is needed.

The chassis of the new model has sporty settings, including adaptive dampers, reinforced springs, and a revised stabilizer bar. Externally, the model features new 20-inch wheels, modified bumpers, and AWD badges. Aerodynamic improvements have resulted in a drag coefficient of 0.278, the best in the Grandland lineup.
