Ford Reveals New Bronco Amazon Edition With 36-Inch Water Fording Capability

Ford has unveiled a limited-production Bronco Amazon model built for serious off-road adventures and deep-water crossings.

Ford Reveals New Bronco Amazon Edition With 36-Inch Water Fording Capability

On May 25, Ford officially revealed the first images of the new Ford Bronco Amazon edition, with sales scheduled to begin on May 26. The special model is based on the Bronco Wildtrak, meaning it retains the SUV’s full off-road hardware package while adding several expedition-focused upgrades. Production numbers will reportedly remain limited, instantly making the new version more appealing to Bronco enthusiasts.

The biggest visual and functional difference is the factory-installed snorkel system. Mounted along the right-side windshield pillar, the elevated air intake is fully integrated into the vehicle from the factory rather than added later as an aftermarket accessory.

That setup increases the Bronco Amazon’s maximum water fording depth to roughly 36 inches, making it better prepared for flooded trails, river crossings, and extreme weather conditions.

The SUV itself remains large and imposing, measuring approximately 190 inches long, 81.5 inches wide, and 78 inches tall, with a wheelbase of about 116 inches. Ford also keeps several signature Bronco features intact, including the removable three-piece roof and quick-detach doors.

According to the company, the SUV can be converted into a fully open-air off-roader in around 20 minutes, blending trail capability with outdoor lifestyle appeal.

Inside, the cabin largely mirrors the Wildtrak trim. Drivers get a 12-inch center touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor along with Ford’s SYNC+ infotainment system. Apple CarPlay support comes standard, and the software can display real-time off-road driving data directly on the screen.

Ford also designed the interior with durability in mind. The floors are finished in washable PVC material and include built-in drain plugs, making cleanup much easier after muddy off-road trips.

Under the hood, the Bronco Amazon keeps the familiar turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The setup produces about 271 horsepower and 316 lb-ft of torque, a combination already proven in a wide variety of off-road conditions.
