MG, a brand under SAIC Motor, has officially unveiled the all-new MG4 EV at the Chengdu Auto Show.
MG, part of Chinese auto giant SAIC, officially debuted the all-new MG4 EV at the Chengdu Auto Show. The compact hatchback will be offered in five trims, with prices starting at ¥68,800 (about $9,630) for the base model. The top-tier version, equipped with a solid-state battery, is priced at ¥102,800 (around $14,400) and is scheduled for delivery later this year.
Built on SAIC’s dedicated E3 platform for pure electric vehicles, the MG4 EV offers a maximum driving range of up to 530 km (329 miles) under the CLTC cycle. With fast charging, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
The exterior features projection headlights, a segmented honeycomb-style grille, and sharply sculpted side air intakes. The MG logo is illuminated. Dimensions measure 4,395 mm in length, 1,842 mm in width, and 1,551 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.
Inside, a digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment display dominate the cabin, complemented by physical buttons. Depending on trim level, customers can choose from three screen sizes: a 10.25-inch 720p display, a 12.8-inch 1080p display, or a premium 15.6-inch 2.5K display. The system runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 chip, enabling MG x OPPO Smart Connectivity.
The flagship trim includes 12 ultrasonic sensors, four surround-view cameras, an 8-megapixel front camera, and a rearview camera. These systems are powered by the Horizon Journey J6e chip, supporting advanced NOA (Navigation On Assist) functions such as automatic lane changes, lane keeping, turn signal-based merging, and intelligent parking.
The MG4 EV is powered by an integrated six-in-one electric motor rated at 120 kW (161 hp) with peak torque of 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). Top speed is electronically limited to 160 km/h (99 mph). Customers can choose between two LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery packs: 42.8 kWh and 53.9 kWh, delivering ranges of 437 km (272 miles) and 530 km (329 miles) under the CLTC cycle. Both versions support fast charging from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes.
