Launched in 2021, the Hyundai Bayon — positioned just below the best-selling Creta in the Korean automaker’s lineup — is now preparing to enter its second generation.

The premiere of the refreshed crossover is anticipated in mid-2026. Its key rivals will include the Volkswagen T-Cross, Ford EcoSport, and Suzuki Fronx.

The new Bayon is expected to receive updated styling along with revised technical features. Its design may align more closely with Hyundai’s latest models such as the Santa Fe and Palisade, both of which adopted bold new looks with their latest generations.

Under the hood, the Bayon is set to be equipped with Hyundai’s newest 1.2-liter TGDI gasoline engine, developed in China. The powertrain supports hybrid technology, which will be integrated into this model as well.

On its own, the engine is rated at 120 horsepower with peak torque of 172 Nm. Transmission choices are expected to include a six-speed manual, a seven-speed dual-clutch DCT, and potentially an electromechanical eCVT.

Exact launch dates for the next-generation Bayon — a budget-friendly crossover priced below the Creta — have not yet been announced.
