The Ford Escape crossover, known in Europe as the Kuga, has been rolling off the production line since the early 2000s and has remained a solid seller for the brand. However, Ford’s new product strategy has led the American automaker to discontinue the Escape. It’s still unclear whether its European counterpart, the Kuga, will share the same fate.

Digital artist AutoYa has imagined what the Escape might look like if Ford decided to give it another generation instead of retiring it. The speculative design features a completely reworked front end with Mustang-inspired headlights that include distinctive LED daytime running lights, a redesigned grille, and a modified bumper with a larger central air intake.

Inside, the imagined crossover sports a slightly updated dashboard with a digital instrument cluster, a new infotainment display, and squared-off air vents.

Perhaps most notably, the interior of this hypothetical next-gen Escape features a redesigned steering wheel with a more modern look.

Still, the chances of Ford reviving or continuing the Escape appear slim. The company is increasingly focusing its efforts on electric vehicles — a segment the Escape’s current platform can’t easily transition into.
