New Durango and Other Stellantis Investments

The next-generation Dodge Durango won’t arrive until 2029 — nearly 20 years after the debut of the current 2010 model.

The next-generation Dodge Durango is scheduled to debut in 2029, marking almost two decades since the launch of the current version back in 2010.

Production will remain at the Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson (Michigan), where Stellantis is investing $130 million to modernize the plant for the launch of the fourth-generation SUV.

This investment is part of Stellantis’s $13 billion U.S. expansion plan, the company’s largest since the founding of Chrysler.

Funds will also go toward upgrading other facilities: $600 million to restart the Belvidere plant (which will produce the Jeep Cherokee and Compass starting in 2027), nearly $400 million for Toledo (to launch a new Ram pickup in 2028), and $100 million to retool the Warren plant for future hybrid and electric SUVs.

In addition, Stellantis will invest another $100 million in Indiana to produce the new GMET4 EVO four-cylinder engine.

As for Chrysler’s future, the company remains quiet. While the brand has reportedly established its own design studio and, according to executives, is preparing for a “new chapter,” no specific models have been announced.

What is known is that by 2029, Stellantis plans to introduce five all-new vehicles and update 19 existing models.
