Buick has officially begun deliveries of its new Electra L7 EREV sedan in the Chinese market.
The model is available in five trim levels, priced from about $24,350 to $30,800 (¥173,900–¥219,900). Built on the Xiaoyao platform, the Electra L7 features a hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor. On pure electric power, it can travel up to 188 miles, while total driving range exceeds 870 miles (according to the CLTC cycle).
The exterior design of the Electra L7 takes inspiration from the ELECTRA-L concept and follows Buick’s latest styling language. The front end stands out with its “Starry Sky Wing” LED lighting and distinctive grille, giving the car a recognizable and futuristic look. At the rear, a full-width taillight with integrated blue “smart” elements emphasizes the model’s high-tech appeal. The car’s dimensions are substantial: 198 inches long, 77 inches wide, and 59 inches high, with a 118-inch wheelbase.
Inside, the Electra L7 greets passengers with a modern, tech-focused cabin. The dashboard features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central display, and a massive 50-inch augmented-reality head-up display (AR-HUD). Powering these systems is the Qualcomm SA8775P chip, with an Adreno 663 GPU and a 72-TOPS neural processor, delivering fast response and support for complex features.
Special attention was given to driver-assistance systems. The model debuts Buick’s “Xiaoyao” intelligent driving suite, developed with Momenta’s R6 platform, offering advanced capabilities from urban autonomous navigation to fully automated parking. This makes the Electra L7 one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in its segment.
To extend its range, the Electra L7 uses a 1.5-liter LD3 turbo engine produced by SAIC-GM. It delivers 115 kW (154 hp) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque, while the electric motor produces 252 kW (338 hp), enabling acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.9 seconds. Average fuel consumption is only 0.13 gallons per 62 miles (0.5 L/100 km). The powertrain is supported by a 40.2-kWh Ultium battery, part of GM’s latest energy platform.
