AAWireless was launched with a brilliant goal in mind: to allow for an easy transition from Android Auto wired to a no-cable experience.
AAWireless, the gadget that made switching from wired Android Auto to wireless as simple as plugging in a USB dongle, is taking its next step in ditching cables. The company has unveiled AAWireless TWO+, its first dual adapter that also works with CarPlay.
TWO+ was first announced in May 2025, but the initial release was limited to 3,000 units exclusively for Indiegogo backers.
The reasoning was straightforward. Indiegogo was the platform where AAWireless originated, and the company wanted to reward early supporters with first access. All 3,000 units sold out in just five days.
Now, AAWireless is making TWO+ available globally, with launches in the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom.
AAWireless started with a simple goal: make moving from a wired Android Auto setup to a cable-free experience effortless. By using this adapter, drivers could quickly go wireless without dealing with messy cords. While wired Android Auto remains more common, many users prefer a clutter-free cabin, making a wireless setup the obvious choice.
Upgrading to wireless Android Auto through the car manufacturer can be expensive, which is why products like AAWireless caught on quickly. They offer a plug-and-play solution that’s affordable and doesn’t require professional installation.
The original AAWireless was focused solely on Android Auto, but the new TWO+ adds CarPlay compatibility. The company previously experimented with CarPlay in beta on the first model, though it never went beyond testing.
CarPlay works similarly to the Android Auto function. Users connect the adapter to the car via the wired CarPlay port, with all necessary cables included, and pair their iPhone over Bluetooth. Once the wireless connection is established, the car detects the iPhone and launches CarPlay automatically.
One major advantage of a wireless adapter is convenience: once it’s set up, you can leave it plugged in permanently. Every time you start the car, the dongle reconnects automatically, triggering CarPlay on the infotainment system.
Compared to the first AAWireless dongle, TWO+ also features a multi-function button that makes it easy to switch between paired phones.
Another benefit is ongoing software support, which sets it apart from cheaper alternatives. The company has committed to long-term firmware updates for TWO+, ensuring the device stays compatible with the latest Android Auto features.
This support is crucial, as Android Auto features can sometimes break after app updates. AAWireless also has a companion mobile app for configuration and firmware updates when available.
Wireless Android Auto adapters rarely receive updates. Motorola’s MA1, a long-time competitor, is a case in point. While the MA1 was widely praised for reliability and backed by Google, some users reported connectivity issues after a few months. Motorola has not released a second-generation MA1 and seems unlikely to do so, leaving the device on the market only until existing stock runs out.
AAWireless TWO+ is available through the company’s online store. Previous models were also sold on Amazon, so this updated dongle may follow the same path. In the US, the adapter costs $64.99, the same price as the second-generation AAWireless with Android Auto support.
It will be interesting to see how well TWO+ handles CarPlay, but based on the original models’ reliability with Android Auto, major issues aren’t expected. A full review of TWO+ with both Android Auto and CarPlay will be published soon, including any observations about performance or reliability.
