A 620-hp “Villa on Wheels” With 820 Miles of Range: Buick Electra Encasa Debuts

Its feature set rivals a BMW 7 Series.

Buick has unveiled the Electra Encasa in China — a luxury minivan the company describes as a “flagship villa-class MPV.” The model features adaptive LED headlights, flush door handles, and gesture-controlled sliding doors. Its drag coefficient is just 0.258, and its dimensions exceed even those of the Chrysler Pacifica: overall length reaches 207 inches with a 124-inch wheelbase.

The Electra Encasa’s cabin is styled like a premium executive sedan. The dashboard integrates three large displays: a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, a 16.3-inch infotainment screen, and a matching 16.3-inch passenger display. There’s also a 50-inch AR head-up display and a 21-inch 4K rear-seat screen. The interior uses Nappa leather, and the seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage. The Bose audio system includes 16 speakers.

The main comfort zone is the second row with multi-position “zero-gravity” lounge seats that automatically optimize posture and can recline into a full chaise-lounge mode. Passengers also get fold-out tables. A dedicated climate system maintains cabin humidity at 40–60%.

Power comes from a hybrid system built around a 1.5-liter engine, two electric motors, and a 40.9-kWh battery. Combined output is 620 hp and 572 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0–62 mph sprint in 5.8 seconds. Electric-only range is 139 miles (CLTC), with a maximum total range of about 820 miles.

The Electra Encasa features an advanced driver-assistance suite with lidar, radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors, and seven cameras, supporting hands-on help in city and highway driving as well as one-touch automated parking.

Pricing for the Buick Electra Encasa starts between $61,600 and $65,800 (converted from 440,000–470,000 yuan).
