Porsche Works Council Chairman Ibrahim Aslan has warned that one in four of the company’s employees in Germany could lose their jobs as management considers shifting part of its production to other countries.
“The executive board has yet to present a vision for the future of our German Porsche sites, and instead is threatening to move development and production to countries with significantly lower wage levels… As a result, every fourth job at Porsche AG is at risk,” Aslan said.
According to information obtained by our publication, if these figures are confirmed, this would be the largest workforce reduction in Porsche’s history. The cuts would primarily affect the main Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen plant, the Weissach development center, and several smaller facilities.
Across these sites, Porsche employs roughly 23,000 people. That means more than 5,500 jobs could be on the line.
