U.S. market analysts have summed up electric vehicle sales for 2025, revealing some interesting trends. In the third quarter, American buyers rushed to dealerships, snapping up EVs in anticipation of the federal tax credit being phased out at the end of September. The situation was somewhat reminiscent of the rush in Russia before changes to recycling fees, when buyers imported foreign cars ahead of the new rules.

After the tax credit ended, EV sales in the U.S. dropped sharply. Many models saw sales fall more than 50% year-over-year in the fourth quarter.

By the end of 2025, analysts had compiled the numbers to see how the turbulent fourth quarter affected the EV market, resulting in a ranking of the 10 best-selling new electric vehicles in the U.S. for 2025:

This list shows a mix of SUVs, pickups, and compact crossovers, reflecting the strong demand for versatile, family-friendly EVs in the U.S. market—while Tesla continues to dominate overall, new entries from Chevrolet, Ford, and Honda are gradually gaining ground.
