Ford has launched a recall after discovering a potential defect in EcoBoost engine EGR components.
Ford has announced a large recall involving 47,804 vehicles due to a potential malfunction in the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The campaign affects models equipped with 1.5-liter, 2.0-liter, and 2.3-liter EcoBoost engines.
According to the automaker, the issue is related to the EGR valve. In certain cases, an internal component inside the valve may detach because of insufficient welding depth during manufacturing. If this occurs, too much exhaust gas can enter the engine.
Such a fault may cause the vehicle to lose power. In more serious situations, the engine could even stall while driving, which may increase the risk of a dangerous situation on the road.
Ford’s investigation into the problem began in July 2025 after several warranty claims were filed by owners. Many of the affected vehicles had accumulated less than about 6,200 miles at the time the issue appeared. Engineers later traced the defect to welding problems in EGR valves supplied by the South Korean company Korens.
The recall affects several popular models in Ford’s lineup, including the Ford Mustang, Ford Bronco, Ford Ranger, Ford Explorer, Ford Escape, Ford Bronco Sport, Ford Maverick, and Ford Edge.
Vehicles from Ford’s premium brand are also included in the campaign. These are the Lincoln Nautilus and Lincoln Corsair.
Ford says it is currently working on the final repair procedure. Most likely, dealerships will replace the faulty EGR valves on affected vehicles. Notification letters to owners are expected to be mailed between March 16 and March 20, 2026.
