The legendary GT40 returns with 800 horsepower, a carbon-fiber body, and old-school manual shifting.
Everrati has revealed its latest Ford GT40-based creation, and this one takes a very different approach from the company’s usual projects. Known for transforming classic cars into electric restomods, the British firm has gone back to gasoline power, replacing batteries and electric motors with a supercharged V8.
The project was developed in partnership with Superformance, the company behind officially licensed GT40 continuation models. The car features a lightweight carbon-fiber body and is powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter Roush V8 producing an impressive 800 horsepower.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a manual transmission, making this far more than just a stylish tribute to a racing icon. Instead, it delivers the kind of raw, analog driving experience enthusiasts crave. Everrati says the goal was to blend the timeless design of the 1960s endurance-racing legend with modern engineering and significantly higher performance.
To handle the added power, the suspension, braking system, and chassis have all been upgraded. Despite the modern hardware, the car retains the classic GT40 proportions that made the original famous, including its ultra-low stance, wide track, signature air intakes, and unmistakable silhouette.
The design remains a tribute to the machine that famously defeated Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and helped establish Ford's place in motorsports history.
Everrati has not yet announced production numbers or pricing. However, given the rarity of the Superformance platform, the extensive use of carbon fiber, the Roush-built engine, and the hand-built nature of the project, buyers should expect a very substantial price tag.
For Everrati, the GT40 marks an interesting departure from its EV-focused reputation. While the company built its name electrifying automotive classics, this latest project demonstrates that demand for high-performance, gasoline-powered restomods remains strong. After all, when it comes to a GT40, the sound of a roaring V8 is every bit as important as the shape of the car itself.
