A large-scale recall campaign for Ford vehicles has begun in the U.S. due to the danger of sudden engine stalls.
Automotive giant Ford Motor has announced the recall of 850,318 Ford and Lincoln vehicles in the U.S. The reason — potential failure of the low-pressure fuel pump, which could lead to sudden engine stalling. This was reported in a document submitted by the company to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on July 8.
According to official information, the pump malfunction can lead to a drop in pressure and a cessation of fuel supply from the tank, causing the engine to stall while driving. This significantly increases the risk of road accidents.
According to Ford, the first signs of potential failure — poor engine performance, jerking, reduced power, and the Check Engine indicator illuminating. It is also noted that the likelihood of pump failure increases with low fuel levels and in hot weather, especially when the fuel in the tank is at a high temperature.
The company has noted that no incidents involving injuries related to this issue are currently known.

Ford estimates that approximately 10% of the vehicles being recalled might actually experience the issue.
The official solution to the problem has not been published yet. The first notification letters will start being sent to owners on July 14, with a follow-up after a concrete method for fixing the issue is available.

The Recall Is Part of a Broader Wave
