The “Hypercar Among Supercars”: The Story of the Unique Cizeta Moroder With a V16 Engine
In the world of automotive exotica, few cars are as mysterious and ambitious as the Italian Cizeta V16T.
This project was born in the late 1980s, when the supercar market was booming and waiting lists for new Ferrari and Lamborghini models stretched for months.
The story began with the entrepreneurial drive of Claudio Zampolli, a Ferrari dealer in America who decided to create his own supercar.
Renowned composer Giorgio Moroder joined the project and provided the financing. That led to the creation of Cizeta Automobili in 1988, with the company's name derived from the founder's initials.
The car's exterior was designed by Marcello Gandini, the designer behind the Lamborghini Miura and Countach.
Interestingly, these sketches were originally intended for the new Lamborghini Diablo, but Chrysler management rejected them. Zampolli saw the potential in the design and brought it to life in metal.
