Ford Unveils a New 800-HP Mustang — and It’s Not a Shelby GT500

A surprise new variant has quietly appeared in the Ford Custom Garage catalog.

At SEMA 2023, Ford introduced the FP800S package — a factory-backed kit featuring a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, a lowered suspension, and a reinforced drivetrain, boosting the S650-generation Mustang GT 5.0 to 810 horsepower.

Now, another unexpected option has surfaced in the Ford Custom Garage lineup: the Mustang FP800S Bronze Magneride.

The newcomer carries over the core hardware from last year’s FP800S, including the Whipple supercharger, an air/oil separator, a Ford Performance Extreme exhaust with catalytic converters, and upgraded half-shafts.

While Ford hasn’t disclosed the full component list, it’s almost certain the package also includes a larger heat exchanger, an intercooler, high-flow air filters, and an enlarged throttle body.

The exterior is enhanced with a front splitter, a Dark Horse rear spoiler, fender extensions, and exclusive badging. The key difference lies in the styling. Instead of the blue-and-white theme, the Bronze Magneride features a gray body, bronze-finished 19-inch wheels, matching lug nuts, side graphics, and a grille with bronze accents.

The package also includes a revised MagneRide suspension, lowered by about 1 inch and paired with adaptive dampers.

“FP” still stands for Ford Performance, even as the division transitions to the Ford Racing name. Most of the parts shown on the concept are already available through Ford’s official catalog and can be dealer-installed with a 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty. All of this suggests the FP800S Bronze Magneride could eventually see limited production.

We’ve reached out to Ford for comment on the future of the package (beyond the upgraded half-shafts). Fingers crossed for good news — not much can top an 810-horsepower Mustang cruising calmly on gleaming bronze wheels.
