A French company led by local environmental activist Denis Beaulieu is preparing to launch a new, unconventional vehicle into production, known as the Scaramobile.

This unusual eco-friendly mode of transportation is something between a bicycle and a traditional car. One of the project’s core goals is environmental responsibility, and the creators say the vehicle could go on sale in the near future.

From a design standpoint, the Scaramobile resembles the futuristic flying-car concepts that began appearing about a decade ago.

The vehicle rides on four wheels and features aluminum doors along with two wing-like photovoltaic panels.

The Scaramobile is powered by solar energy, converting sunlight (photons) directly into electricity through its photovoltaic panels.

While detailed specifications have not yet been disclosed, the developers claim the Scaramobile will be able to compete with conventional internal combustion vehicles in terms of speed.

At the same time, the vehicle is said to be quiet, less bulky, and better suited to addressing challenges related to climate change.

There is currently no word on when mass production will begin or how much the Scaramobile will cost.
