Ford Recalls Expedition and Lincoln Navigator Over Fire Risk, Citing 2020 Pandemic Disruptions
Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for 4,632 units of the 2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs.
Ford Motor Company announced the recall of 4,632 2020 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs due to a potential fire hazard. The issue stems from defects in the power supply module, where soldering and coating flaws may cause short circuits. The problem can occur both while driving and when the vehicle is parked with the engine off, prompting Ford to advise owners to park away from buildings and other vehicles.
The affected vehicles were built between November and December 2020. According to Ford, the defect was linked to a supplier’s production shift during the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in insufficient circuit board coating and poor moisture protection, leading to corrosion and conductive deposits.

Dealers will replace the power supply module free of charge and remove one of the grounding wires. Depending on trim level, some vehicles will also receive an auxiliary electrical module. Customer notifications are scheduled to be sent by October 3, 2025.
The Expedition and Navigator compete directly with Chevrolet’s Tahoe and Suburban. Both SUVs feature a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Pricing starts at $62,400 for the Expedition, while the luxury-oriented Navigator begins at $99,995.

This case underscores that even flagship SUVs are not immune to recalls. Whether buying new or used, consumers should keep a close eye on recall campaigns, as they directly affect both safety and long-term ownership costs.
