Mitsubishi and Hino Unite Under ARCHION: A New Global Powerhouse in Truck Manufacturing

In 2026, Japanese automotive giants Hino Motor Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Co., Ltd. will join forces under a new name — ARCHION. The name combines the English words “ARCH,” symbolizing strength and connection, and “EON,” suggesting longevity and continuity. Together, they represent the company’s mission to build a sustainable future for the transportation industry while honoring the legacy of both brands. Importantly, the Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso names will remain in use for their respective products.

ARCHION’s leadership team has already been announced: Karl Deppen (Mitsubishi Fuso) will serve as CEO, Hetar Larigi will take on the role of CFO, and Satoshi Ogiso, president of Hino, will serve as CTO. The company’s headquarters will be located in Tokyo’s Shinagawa district.

As part of the integration, a major restructuring of manufacturing operations is planned. By 2028, the current five truck plants (three from Hino and two from Mitsubishi Fuso) will be consolidated into three main production sites. The Mitsubishi Fuso plant in Kawasaki, the Hino facility in Furukawa, and the Nitta plant will be reorganized into three core centers. The Nakatsu plant will be incorporated into the Kawasaki site, while the Hino Hamura facility will transfer under Toyota’s management, as previously announced.

This merger aims to strengthen both companies’ positions in the global market, boost operational efficiency, and lay the foundation for the next generation of innovation in commercial vehicle manufacturing — in Japan and beyond.
