A new owner survey reveals which crossover SUVs suffer the most frequent problems, with Nissan, Volkswagen and Kia models leading the list.
According to the latest What Car? owner survey, the Nissan Juke, Volkswagen Tiguan and Kia Sportage currently rank among the least reliable crossover SUVs due to their high number of reported issues.
Automotive analysts found that the 2019-2025 Nissan Juke posted a reliability score of just 55.2%. Owners cited a wide range of trouble spots, including the engine, fuel system, electrical components unrelated to the engine, air conditioning, bodywork, brakes, electronics, exhaust system, transmission and clutch, steering and suspension.
Interestingly, only 24% of drivers with gasoline-powered Jukes reported experiencing failures, but nearly two-thirds of those owners said their vehicles were out of service for more than a week.
Second on the list is the 2024-and-newer Volkswagen Tiguan, which earned a reliability rating of 64.2%. Common complaints involve the infotainment and navigation system, brakes, non-engine electrical components and body-related issues.
Owners have also raised concerns about the reliability of the 2022 Mazda CX-60, which received a reliability score of 76.2%. Reported problems include the suspension, steering system, bodywork, fuel system, transmission, hybrid battery pack, electrical systems unrelated to the engine, the 12-volt battery, brakes, electric motor, internal combustion engine, and the infotainment and navigation system.
The 2015 Audi Q7 ranked fifth among the least reliable SUVs, posting a reliability score of 78.6%. The model's most frequently reported issues involve electrical components, the engine, exhaust system and multimedia system.
Other vehicles making the top 10 least reliable list include the Volkswagen ID.4 (79.6%), Renault Austral (80.4%), Nissan Ariya (80.9%), BMW iX (81.0%) and Land Rover Discovery Sport (81.8%).
