The owner of this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air says more than $70,000 was spent on a professional restoration to bring the iconic classic to its current condition.

What makes the listing stand out even more is the asking price. Despite the investment, the seller is asking $42,000 and isn't accepting offers. Even with a firm price, it's an appealing deal for a fully restored Bel Air.

One factor likely affecting the value is what's under the hood.

For 1957, Chevrolet introduced its new 283-cubic-inch Turbo-Fire V8, replacing the earlier 265. The engine became one of the brand's most recognizable powerplants and was offered in several versions, including two-barrel and four-barrel carbureted models, as well as a fuel-injected variant.

This Bel Air no longer retains its factory engine. Instead, it's powered by a 350-cubic-inch V8 producing 345 horsepower. While the upgrade delivers stronger performance, replacing the original engine can reduce the car's appeal among collectors looking for factory-correct examples.

That said, swapping in a 350 V8 is a common modification for 1957 Bel Airs. In this case, the engine is paired with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission.

The rest of the car appears to be in outstanding condition. According to the seller, the restoration included more than $70,000 worth of work, and the photos suggest nearly every area of the vehicle has been refurbished.

Buyers searching for a completely original Bel Air should inspect the car in person before making a decision.

Since the restoration was completed, the Chevrolet has been stored in a heated, secure garage under a protective cover. The seller says all receipts and restoration documentation will be included with the sale, adding to the car's overall appeal.

The listing also states that everything on the car is in proper working order, so the next owner shouldn't have to invest additional money right away. It's a two-door model finished in a color that suits the 1957 Bel Air particularly well.

The car is located in Sutton, Massachusetts. Anyone interested should plan accordingly, as the listing is scheduled to expire in just nine days. The asking price is firm, and the seller is not accepting offers.
