Chinese auto giant BYD has officially launched sales of its flagship sedan, the Yangwang U7, a technological marvel featuring an innovative electromagnetic suspension, over 1300 hp, and acceleration to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. This electric vehicle is not just fast: it can turn on the spot, move "sideways" when parking ("crab") and even rotate wheels independently of each other.

Thanks to the dual steering (rear wheels steering up to 20 degrees) the turning radius of the U7 is comparable to compact city cars. This makes it unexpectedly agile for a vehicle 5.36 meters long - an ideal choice for congested city streets.

Technology of the Future, Today

The DiSus-Z electromagnetic suspension is the first in the world to function on the principle of aircraft carrier magnetic catapults and maglev trains. It instantly adapts to road irregularities, creating a "floating body" effect.

Energy recuperation - the suspension not only dampens vibrations but also converts them back into electricity, increasing energy efficiency.

Three lidars and the God’s Eye A system - an advanced autopilot with 360-degree view.

Hypercar-worthy Specifications

The starting price of the Yangwang U7 is 628,000 yuan (~$85,000). In China, it will compete with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Audi A8L. This is already the third model of the Yangwang sub-brand after the U8 SUV and U9 sports car.

What conclusion can be drawn: BYD has bet on revolutionary technology, and the U7 is vivid confirmation of that. If the electromagnetic suspension meets expectations, it may change the concept of comfort and handling in large sedans.
