Ford has announced a recall of 1.9 million vehicles in the U.S. due to defective rearview cameras, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The malfunction affects a wide range of models and production years—from the iconic Mustang to F-Series pickups and Lincoln SUVs. Vehicles built between 2015 and 2019 are included in the recall, such as the Ford Mustang, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Lincoln Navigator, Ford Expedition, Ford Edge, Transit Connect, Ford Transit, Econoline, and Ford Ranger.

In all cases, the issue stems from the rearview cameras failing to display images properly—they may show upside-down or distorted pictures, or fail to transmit video altogether.

Ford says it will inspect and, if necessary, replace the faulty cameras free of charge at its service centers. Vehicle owners will begin receiving official notifications starting September 22.

This is the second major recall by Ford related to rearview display issues. Back in May, a software glitch triggered the recall of more than one million vehicles for a similar problem.
