The Nissan Ariya has undergone its first major update since debuting in 2022. The midsize all-electric SUV now features a redesigned exterior, upgraded tech, and an improved chassis.

According to Nissan, the new Ariya will hit the Japanese market in the spring of next year. The front end of the deeply refreshed Ariya is shown in the official teaser images, though no additional photos have been released yet. It’s clear, however, that the design draws inspiration from the third-generation Nissan Leaf, which is set to launch in several key European markets later this year.

The large solid black front panel is gone, replaced by a more dynamic look that brings the Ariya closer in style to the next-gen Leaf, featuring reshaped LED headlights and a new lower air intake.

Other updates reportedly include a next-generation infotainment system powered by Google—already featured in the latest Qashqai and Leaf models—as well as a “car-to-load” function. Suspension tweaks are also promised, although these will initially be exclusive to vehicles built for the Japanese domestic market.

The refreshed Ariya is also expected to offer greater range on a single charge than its predecessor. For reference, the current model with a 63-kWh battery delivers up to 249 miles per charge, while the version with the larger 87-kWh pack extends that to 329 miles.

The fully updated Ariya will make its official debut at the end of October during the Japan Mobility Show, alongside several other models intended for the Japanese market.
