2026 Hyundai Staria: The Minivan Goes Fully Electric

The South Korean automaker has officially unveiled an all-electric version of its Staria minivan.

2026 Hyundai Staria: The Minivan Goes Fully Electric

Hyundai has introduced the fully electric Staria minivan. The model has been on sale with conventional gasoline and diesel engines since 2021, and now it’s making the jump to a pure battery-electric version.

Visually, the Staria remains instantly recognizable, retaining its futuristic, almost “spaceship-like” design. It features a high roofline, a completely flat floor inside, and a long wheelbase. The interior is highly configurable, with the Staria EV offered in either a seven-seat layout—with two individual captain’s chairs in the second row—or a nine-seat configuration. The former is aimed primarily at families and private owners, while the latter targets commercial fleets, such as taxi services in Europe.

Up front, the dashboard is dominated by two 12.3-inch digital displays: one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment system. Hyundai has also kept physical controls for the most frequently used functions, including climate control.

The electric powertrain combines a front-mounted electric motor producing 212 horsepower with an 84-kWh lithium-ion battery. Top speed is rated at about 112 mph, while driving range is estimated at around 236 miles. Thanks to an 800-volt electrical architecture, fast charging from 10% to 80% takes roughly 20 minutes.

The new Staria EV also comes well equipped. Features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing the minivan to power external devices—from laptops to camping gear—along with high-output 100-watt USB charging ports. There’s also a special “rear view and conversation” function designed to help the driver keep an eye on and communicate with passengers. Towing capacity is rated at up to about 4,400 pounds.

In the Luxury trim, buyers get additional comforts such as heated and ventilated front and rear seats, as well as power-operated sliding side doors and a power tailgate.
