Ford AI will debut as a standalone app in 2026 before being fully integrated into vehicle infotainment systems.

Ford has announced plans to roll out its own AI assistant across Ford and Lincoln vehicles by 2027. The system will focus on personalized infotainment features and handling tasks during a drive.

The company describes Ford AI not as a traditional voice assistant, but as an “intelligent thread” that connects the driver to the vehicle and adapts to individual habits. The assistant will take into account the specific vehicle model and adjust its behavior to meet the owner’s needs.

One demonstration showcased the system’s ability to estimate how much firewood can fit in a pickup bed using nothing more than a photo. The AI calculates volume, factors in bed dimensions, and accounts for tie-down locations. The result can be accessed remotely through the Ford or Lincoln mobile app.

In the first half of 2026, Ford AI will launch in the brands’ mobile apps and become available to more than 8 million customers. A separate version is also being developed for commercial users. Ford says that by 2027 the assistant will be built directly into the vehicle interface, rather than functioning as simple smartphone mirroring.
