Shelby American appears ready to revisit a proven formula, hinting at a fresh high-performance pickup built on the next Ford F-150.
Americans have long had a soft spot for two things: V8-powered muscle cars and pickup trucks that don’t flinch at rough roads. Put the two together and you usually get a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Shelby American seems poised to tap into that mix once again, teasing a new project — a Cobra-branded truck based on the next-generation Ford F-150 has surfaced online.
The company posted a message on Facebook reminding fans that it announced three new vehicles back in January, but “didn’t stop there.” The post included two images: an F-150 hidden under a white cover, with blue racing stripes and a familiar snake graphic draped across the top. Shelby later confirmed the visuals follow the Super Snake Sport design language, making the direction of the project fairly obvious.
Shelby has a long history of building fast, attention-grabbing trucks. The company has been at it for nearly two decades, and the Shelby name has appeared on pickups before — the 1989 Dodge Dakota Shelby being a notable example. This latest idea, however, stands out. Judging by the proportions under the cover, the truck appears to use a regular cab rather than the more common crew cab. That configuration is typically offered by Ford only in the bare-bones XL trim, mainly as a work vehicle.
For the 2025 model year, Shelby’s lineup included several Ford-based trucks:
an updated Super Snake
a more off-road-focused Shelby F-150
the Baja version built on the Raptor
and the F-250 Shelby Super Baja, with capabilities approaching Raptor territory
What they all share is a well-equipped crew cab, massive dimensions, and output of up to 785 horsepower thanks to the Shelby supercharger system. The downside is obvious: these trucks are big and heavy by default.
Why a smaller cab could mean more fun
A regular-cab F-150 is roughly two feet shorter than the smallest crew cab and about 600 pounds lighter. In theory, that brings things back to the old-school sport truck playbook — think early SVT F-150 Lightning — where the lightest full-size pickup gets serious upgrades to the engine, suspension, and brakes. That’s something Ford didn’t fully pursue with its street-focused F-150 Lobo, and it opens the door for Shelby to step in.
What to expect from a Super Snake Sport
There are no official specs yet, but Shelby’s past projects offer some clear clues. If the company sticks to its usual formula, the upgrades could include:
a V8 under the hood pushing output up to 785 horsepower
bold exterior touches like racing stripes and the signature Cobra badge
Super Snake-style chassis upgrades, including a lowered Ridetech suspension tuned by Shelby, adjustable Fox shocks front and rear, and revised sway bars for sharper handling
engine bay enhancements such as a carbon-fiber intake and upgraded throttle body
a transformed interior, replacing the basic XL trim with two-tone leather and carbon-fiber accents similar to the standard Super Snake
If Shelby does unveil the F-150 Super Snake Sport before the end of the week, it would mark the brand’s fourth announcement in a single month. The truck would join a growing list of new projects, including the 2026 Super Snake Mustang, Super Snake R, GT350, GT350 convertible, and the track-focused GT350 T/A. For enthusiasts craving raw steering feel and Mustang-like attitude, Shelby may soon be offering a different kind of thrill — a lighter, more aggressive F-150 built for the street.
