The vehicles are part of a large-scale recall.
Hyundai has launched a recall campaign in the North American market affecting 568,576 Palisade crossovers. According to official documents, the third-row side airbags in these vehicles “may not deploy effectively in a crash,” the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports.
The recall covers model years 2020 through 2025. Recall filings state that the Palisade’s side airbags may fail to properly restrain the heads of third-row passengers during a collision.
NHTSA has already informed Hyundai that during a routine compliance test, a 2025 Palisade failed to prevent excessive movement of a crash-test dummy seated in the third row. Between April and December 2025, Hyundai and NHTSA conducted additional compliance tests, ultimately confirming that the third-row side airbags were not functioning as intended.
The South Korean automaker says it is continuing to work on a fix for the faulty rear airbags. Once a solution is finalized, Hyundai will notify owners and provide instructions on how to visit an authorized dealership to have the issue addressed.
