Hyundai is preparing a brand new crossover for Europe: premiere in September

Hyundai continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup and is preparing a new compact SUV for Europe. The model will slot between the Inster and the larger Kona, and its concept is planned to be unveiled in September at the Munich auto show. In terms of size, the newcomer will be close to the Bayon crossover with gasoline engines. It is expected that the production version will replicate the design of the concept almost unchanged.

Rumors suggest that the new model may be named Ioniq 2 and use the E-GMP platform, on which other Hyundai electric vehicles are built. This architecture suits both compact models and more spacious options. The new vehicle will be a more practical alternative to the Inster for those who need a small but slightly roomier electric crossover.

One of the key innovations will be the Pleos Connect multimedia system. This will be the first Hyundai with this system, based on Android Automotive. The interior will feature a large separate touch screen at the center of the dashboard, similar to Tesla or many modern Chinese electric vehicles. Previously, Hyundai favored curved screens with combined digital instruments and multimedia.
