Almost five years after the premiere of the current generation, Toyota Harrier is preparing for a deep update in design, technology, and equipment.
Almost five years have passed since the debut of the fourth generation Toyota Harrier in June 2020. This crossover, created on the RAV4 platform, has always been positioned as its more prestigious and expensive version. Now, following the update of its younger sibling, Harrier is also preparing for transition to a new platform.
Recently, fresh data about the project appeared online, including possible changes in design and technical equipment. According to insiders, the official presentation of the fifth generation Toyota Harrier will take place approximately a year after the release of the new RAV4. It is expected to happen between the first and third quarters of 2026.
Well-known independent designer Theottle suggests that the body update will be so extensive that the crossover might become almost unrecognizable. The model's appearance is likely inspired by the modern Toyota style — from Camry to Prius and RAV4. This includes new C-shaped headlights, a large-mesh grille in body color, an aggressive bumper, and a continuous LED strip between the rear wings.
Also expected are new wheel designs, updated bumper trims, and slightly altered sides. Technically, the crossover is rumored to get a new 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a power output of 180 hp. Additionally, a hybrid version with an output of up to 230 hp may appear in the lineup.
The most powerful modification will be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with a total power of 315 hp.
As we wrote earlier, Toyota HiLux is preparing for a hybrid update on the Land Cruiser and Prado platform. The manufacturer will present the first-ever HiLux with plug-in charging capability.
