McMurtry Unveils the Production Spéirling Pure

The electric hypercar packs more than 1,000 horsepower, fan-assisted active aerodynamics, and a price tag of nearly $1.35 million.

McMurtry Unveils the Production Spéirling Pure

British automaker McMurtry Automotive has fully revealed the production version of its unconventional Spéirling Pure hypercar. The model will become the company's first production vehicle, with total output limited to just 100 units.

The Spéirling Pure's defining feature remains its proprietary Downforce-on-Demand system. Two powerful fans mounted beneath the car literally suck it down onto the track surface. From a standstill, they generate about 4,400 pounds of downforce, allowing the hypercar to maintain exceptional grip even in slow-speed corners. This technology has enabled McMurtry to set several records, including the outright hillclimb record at Goodwood.

Beneath the carbon-fiber body are two electric motors producing more than 1,000 horsepower. They drive the rear wheels, while the vehicle weighs less than 2,205 pounds. As a result, the Spéirling Pure accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.55 seconds, completes the quarter-mile in 7.97 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 190 mph.

Compared with the prototype, the production version has undergone extensive revisions. McMurtry says about 95 percent of its components are new. Engineers focused not only on performance but also on ease of ownership, making the car simpler to service and prepare for track days.

Power comes from a 100-kWh battery pack. According to the company, it provides enough energy for about 20 minutes of driving at a GT3 race pace. DC fast charging at up to 350 kW can replenish the battery in approximately 25 minutes, allowing the car to return to the track quickly.

The Spéirling Pure is not street legal and is designed exclusively for track use. McMurtry says it will provide factory support for owners at racing events and track days, as well as access to the GT1 Sports Club program. All 100 cars will be built in the Cotswolds in the United Kingdom, with the first deliveries scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. Pricing starts at approximately $1.35 million before taxes.

Even among today's hypercars, the Spéirling Pure stands apart. While most manufacturers continue increasing power output and battery capacity, McMurtry has focused on low weight, compact dimensions, and radical aerodynamics. As a result, this small single-seat EV is now considered one of the fastest cars ever built for the race track.
