Volkswagen Testing New Generation T-Roc R — Photos Already Online
The first photos of the test version have become publicly available. The test car was spotted on European roads.
Despite rumors about the end of the story, the sporty Volkswagen T-Roc R will receive a new generation. The German brand has officially confirmed: work on the model is already underway. This is also confirmed by spy shots taken on the roads of Southern Europe — a prototype is being tested with a body from the Golf R, which is not surprising: both cars have much in common in terms of technical specifications, including the MQB platform.

The test mule is distinguished by an increased ground clearance and plastic fender flares — typical elements of pre-production cars. Although the prototype outwardly resembles the Golf, the serial T-Roc R will be executed in Volkswagen's new design language, where the features of the next generation model have already been outlined. Previously, renders appeared on the network, giving an idea of the future appearance: aggressive body kit, wider track, large air intakes.

Under the hood remains the 2.0-liter TSI gasoline engine, well known from the current generation, but its power will be increased — it will exceed 300 hp (the current version develops 300 hp and 400 Nm). Paired with a 7-speed DSG and proprietary 4Motion all-wheel drive, which ensures confident handling on any surface.

Volkswagen plans to first present the standard T-Roc at the end of 2025. However, the "charged" R variant will appear in the first half of 2027, closer to the start of serial production. It will still be a versatile crossover, combining sporty characteristics and practicality, which has already been appreciated by over 80,000 T-Roc R owners since the debut of the first version in 2019.
