First Tesla Cybercab Rolls Off the Line: No Pedals, No Steering Wheel, 310-Mile Range
Tesla’s factory in Austin, Texas, has built the first Cybercab robotaxi — completely autonomous and without traditional controls.
The Tesla Cybercab was unveiled in fall 2024 as a fully autonomous, driverless robotaxi. The two-seat cabin has no steering wheel, pedals, or conventional controls.
Prototype Cybercabs were tested on public roads with a steering wheel, pedals, and a human operator on board. Tesla has indicated that controls could be reinstated if required by law.
Inside, the Cybercab retains a traditional dashboard layout, featuring a large central touchscreen. Storage space accommodates two standard-sized suitcases.
The vehicle is fully electric, with a battery capacity of just under 50 kWh, giving an estimated range of nearly 310 miles. Tesla also plans to equip the Cybercab with wireless inductive charging.
Full-scale production of the Tesla Cybercab is scheduled to begin in April 2026.
