Grand Design’s newest AIM floorplan packs premium comfort into a surprisingly compact couples trailer.

Meet the 2027 Grand Design Imagine AIM 19MLA, a Compact Travel Trailer Built for Two

Sometimes, a refresh can make an already good product even better. That's exactly what Grand Design RV has done with its Imagine AIM (Adventure in Motion) lineup for 2027, introducing updated interiors and several new floorplans. Among them, one model is attracting the most attention: the new Imagine AIM 19MLA.

Originally shown as a prototype in late 2025, the 19MLA has now entered full production and is beginning to arrive at dealerships across the country. The model has already earned praise from RV enthusiasts and industry observers, with many calling it one of the best compact travel trailers for couples.

Grand Design launched the Imagine AIM series in 2022 with a straightforward mission: deliver lightweight, affordable trailers without sacrificing comfort or everyday functionality. The company appears to be staying true to that formula, and the 19MLA may be the strongest example yet.

For 2027, the AIM family expands to four floorplans. Although the 19MLA is no longer the largest model in the lineup, it remains one of the most thoughtfully designed options for couples looking for a small trailer that doesn't feel cramped.

Compact Size, Surprisingly Spacious Interior

Built on a tandem-axle chassis with aluminum cage construction, the 19MLA skips slide-outs altogether. Overall length comes in at 22 feet, while width measures 8 feet, making it easy to tow and maneuver. Despite its modest footprint, the trailer is designed exclusively for two occupants, allowing it to offer more usable living space than many larger competitors.

Inside, the layout is simple and efficient. A permanent front bedroom is followed by an entertainment area in the center, while the kitchen and bathroom occupy the rear section.

Weight ratings also leave plenty of room for gear. The trailer carries a GVWR of 6,395 pounds and a dry weight of 4,361 pounds, providing more than 2,000 pounds of cargo capacity.

Bedroom Designed for Real Travel

The front sleeping area features an east-west queen-size mattress with storage above, below, and at the foot of the bed. An additional pass-through storage compartment runs underneath and can be accessed from outside the trailer.

Grand Design has also found clever ways to maximize space. Owners get dedicated charging areas with power outlets for phones or even a CPAP machine, along with a full wardrobe featuring hanging space.

Entertainment Area Feels Larger Than Expected

For a trailer this size, the living space offers an impressive level of comfort. Manual recliners replace the powered units shown on the prototype, while a large television and dual-zone JBL audio system create a residential feel.

Opposite the seating area, a bar-style dinette faces the campsite and doubles as the dining area. Additional cabinets and a full pantry provide plenty of storage for extended trips.

Full Kitchen and Functional Bathroom

The rear kitchen comes equipped with a two-burner cooktop with a glass cover, an RV oven, a large sink, range hood, generous counter space, and numerous storage compartments.

The bathroom makes excellent use of available space. It includes a shower with a skylight, a sliding partition door, a foot-flush toilet, vanity, and additional storage. For two travelers, the setup offers everything needed for comfortable camping.

Loaded With Standard Equipment

The 2027 Imagine AIM 19MLA comes standard with:

  • Tankless on-demand water heater;
  • 20,000-BTU furnace;
  • 13,500-BTU Coleman Mach air conditioner;
  • 15-foot power awning with integrated LED lighting;
  • Enclosed and heated underbelly;
  • 37-gallon fresh water tank;
  • 45-gallon gray water tank;
  • 37-gallon black water tank.

Other standard features include backup camera prep, ladder prep, tinted windows, upgraded Step Above entry steps with adjustable legs, soft-close cabinet hinges, double-insulated flooring and front cap, a power tongue jack, manual stabilizer jacks, dual propane tanks, and a 200-watt solar panel system with a 30-amp controller for off-grid capability.

No Need for Expensive Options

Grand Design lists no factory options for the 19MLA, and that's largely because the trailer arrives fully equipped. Everything needed for comfortable travel is included right from the factory.

The 2027 Grand Design Imagine AIM 19MLA carries an MSRP of $37,332, although actual selling prices will vary depending on location and dealer discounts. For couples seeking a compact trailer with big-trailer amenities, this latest addition to the AIM lineup looks like one of the most compelling choices on the market.
