Ford is recalling more than 223,000 F-150 trucks after regulators warned fuel tanks could loosen or leak.
Ford is recalling 223,472 F-150 pickup trucks in the United States after federal safety regulators identified a potential problem with fuel tank security.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the recall involves 2023-2027 Ford F-150 vehicles. According to the agency, fuel tanks that are not properly secured could leak or detach while a truck is on the road.
A fuel tank that separates from the vehicle could create a road hazard and increase the likelihood of a crash. A leak could cause the engine to stall or increase the risk of a fire, NHTSA said.
Ford dealers will inspect the fuel tank straps and replace them when necessary at no cost to vehicle owners. Owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or use the vehicle identification number search in NHTSA’s recall database.
The recall adds to a series of major safety actions involving Ford vehicles this year. The automaker previously recalled 148,663 Mustang vehicles in the United States after wiring harness ground connections were found capable of causing a loss of drive power or disabling headlights, windshield washers and other systems.
Other reports citing NHTSA data said Ford also recalled about 741,000 trucks and SUVs over a park-system defect and about 1.4 million pickup trucks over a software issue earlier in 2026.
