Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton Has Sold His Entire Collection of Rare Cars
The seven-time Formula 1 champion has sold his entire car collection—though he admits he’d make an exception for one Ferrari.
Ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton revealed that he has sold all of his cars. The move comes several years after he gave up his private jet in an effort to cut his carbon footprint.
Over the years, Hamilton’s garage included an array of rare models—many from Mercedes, the team he raced for—as well as several Ferraris. Highlights of his collection included a one-off Pagani Zonda 760 LH built specifically for him, the AMG Project One, and even a six-wheeled Mercedes G63. Still, Hamilton admitted that if he were to own just one car, it would be a Ferrari F40.
That dream is hardly out of reach. The F40 is the least rare Ferrari supercar since the 288 GTO, with more than 1,300 units built—about 1,000 more than the F50.
Hamilton has long admired what he calls the last true creation of Enzo Ferrari himself. Earlier this year, he went so far as to say he’d love to see a modernized version with a manual gearbox, which he would name the F44 after his current racing number.
