GM reports a significant surge in U.S. sales for the first nine months of the 2025 model year.

GM Sales Hit a 10-Year High as American Buyers Snap Up Vehicles

General Motors is riding a powerful sales wave in the United States. From January through September 2025, the automaker delivered 2.2 million vehicles, a 10% jump compared to the same period last year. This marks the company's strongest nine-month performance since 2015. With GM having sold 2.7 million units for the full year in 2024, the current sales pace suggests it is on track to surpass that figure.

Electric vehicles are becoming a more substantial part of GM's business, accounting for roughly 7% of all sales. Deliveries of EVs over the nine months reached 144,668 units, a staggering 105% increase year-over-year. The standout performer was the Chevrolet Equinox EV, with sales soaring by 389.9% to 52,834 units, including 25,085 deliveries in the third quarter alone. The Chevrolet Silverado EV (9,379 units) and Blazer EV (20,825 units) also posted strong growth.

The momentum wasn't limited to electric models. GM's traditional gasoline-powered lineup continued to perform well, with key contributors including the Buick Envista, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Terrain. The Chevrolet Equinox alone made up over 10% of GM's third-quarter sales, with more than 73,000 units sold. Meanwhile, the Silverado family of trucks reaffirmed its position as a sales leader, with 138,873 pickups finding new owners.
