Gamer BMW Becomes Reality: A Dream Car Steps Out of the Virtual World

BMW has unveiled a physical version of the M4 GT3 EVO at BMW Welt, bringing to life a car that previously existed only in Fortnite and Rocket League. Finished in an anime-inspired BLEACH livery, the car will be on display through January 11, blending motorsports, gaming, and pop culture into a single real-world showcase.

BMW has turned gaming hype into an offline experience. At BMW Welt in Munich, visitors can now see a real BMW M4 GT3 EVO that recently debuted in Fortnite and Rocket League. For fans, it’s a rare opportunity to see a “digital” car in person. The exhibit runs through January 11, clearly timed for the holiday season and peak tourist traffic.

The standout feature is the design. The race-spec M4 GT3 EVO wears an anime livery inspired by BLEACH, with visual references to the character Ichigo Kurosaki. The bold black-and-white “Shinigami” aesthetic has been transferred to the bodywork to make the car equally striking on a screen and on the museum floor. It’s a rare case where motorsport graphics go beyond sponsor decals and function as a recognizable cultural reference.

For BMW, this is a continuation of its broader gaming strategy. Over the past few years, the brand has steadily expanded its presence in Fortnite with interactive experiences and added its vehicles to Rocket League. This project takes the next step by turning a virtual object into a real-world exhibit and photo opportunity. The collaboration also includes merchandise: limited-edition PUMA footwear from the BMW M Motorsport collection has appeared in-game, styled to match the same theme.

For those planning a visit, keep in mind that BMW Welt will be closed December 24–26 and December 31–January 1, so it’s best to schedule your trip for other dates.
