Picture the front straight at Texas Motor Speedway packed with some of the world’s fiercest performance machines — the Ferrari F8 Tributo, Ford GT, Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, and the all-electric Porsche Taycan. It’s a lineup built for a clash of Italian flair and American muscle.

Instead, the cameras captured something no one expected. The clear winner in the 0–60 mph sprint wasn’t a low-slung supercar — it was a roughly 9,900-pound pickup truck.

Yes, really. The GMC Hummer EV, in limited-run 2026 Carbon Fiber Edition form, steamrolled all five rivals at Texas Motor Speedway. And it did so with a full load: in addition to the driver, three passengers and a camera operator with heavy equipment were inside. Even with its curb weight pushing nearly 10,000 pounds, the electric truck delivered a decisive victory.

The secret behind the blistering launch lies in its powertrain. The tri-motor Hummer EV 3X produces a staggering 1,160 horsepower. Engineers at General Motors refined the battery and motor control systems, cutting the official 0–60 mph time to an astonishing 2.8 seconds. GM representatives say the nearly 9,500-pound electric powerhouse can repeat that sprint again and again — even in 90-degree heat — without overheating or losing performance.

Over a longer distance, the heavy pickup would inevitably give way to lighter, more aerodynamic rivals. But in a short drag where split seconds and instant electric torque rule, the Hummer left both gas-powered exotics and even its electric counterpart, the Porsche Taycan, in the dust.

The Carbon Fiber Edition model that took part in the run is available in both pickup and SUV body styles. It stands out with its matte “Magnus Gray” exterior finish and “Velocity Ember” copper accents inside. Exclusive 22-inch wheels feature carbon-fiber inserts. GMC has not publicly listed pricing for this special edition, directing customers to inquire with dealers.

The standard tri-motor version starts at $108,000 before fees, and the final sticker price can climb higher depending on options and destination charges. Still, after watching a nearly five-ton truck humiliate a Ferrari off the line, the price suddenly feels secondary. Because after beating Italian supercars at a stoplight, the Hummer can simply leave the pavement behind — and keep going where those low-slung machines can’t.
