Tesla Recalls 173 Cybertruck Pickups Over Brake System Issue

Tesla has announced a recall of 173 Cybertruck electric pickups in the United States after discovering a safety issue tied to the braking system.

The affected vehicles, equipped from the factory with 18-inch wheels, may experience failures in the brake rotor mounting points. Under heavy load, cracks can develop around the lug nut holes in the wheel hubs. Over time, these openings may fully break down, potentially allowing the wheel studs to loosen and causing the brake rotors to separate from the hub assembly.

The issue was not identified immediately. Tesla began investigating the matter in August 2025 after reports surfaced from the field. The company conducted a series of engineering reviews and recorded three warranty claims from Cybertruck owners, all linked to brake-related faults. Importantly, no crashes or injuries have been reported in connection with the defect.

The recall covers Cybertruck units produced between March 21, 2024, and November 25, 2025. In total, 173 vehicles are included in the action.
