BMW M Concept Neue Klasse Touring Rendering Hints at a Future Electric i3 M Wagon

BMW grabbed headlines once again with the reveal of the M Concept Neue Klasse, a high-performance study that previews the brand’s next-generation electric sports sedan. While BMW has yet to share many technical details, the futuristic concept has already inspired digital artists to imagine what other body styles could look like.

One of the latest interpretations comes from CGI creator @sugardesign_1, who transformed the striking sedan concept into a Touring model. The unofficial rendering envisions what a future BMW i3 M wagon could look like, combining the aggressive styling of the original concept with the practicality buyers have long associated with BMW estates.

Dubbed the BMW M Neue Klasse Touring, the digital creation extends the roofline and adds larger rear quarter windows along with a hatchback-style tailgate, creating significantly more cargo space. The overall shape remains faithful to the original concept, retaining the slim kidney grille, yellow daytime running lights, distinctive rear lighting signature, and split ducktail spoiler.

Many of the concept’s signature details are carried over as well, including the sculpted side skirts, flush door handles, vented hood, mirrors, and wheel design. The artist also added subtle roof rails, giving the wagon a more versatile character. Various color combinations and backgrounds in the renderings showcase how such a model could fit into BMW’s future lineup.

The idea of an electric M wagon may not be as far-fetched as it sounds. BMW currently offers both sedan and Touring versions of the M3, and industry observers expect that strategy to continue with the next generation. If the upcoming electric performance model adopts the i3 M name—or perhaps iM3, as some rumors suggest—it could eventually spawn a wagon variant as well.

Power figures remain one of the biggest mysteries surrounding BMW’s M Concept Neue Klasse. The automaker has confirmed that the concept uses a four-motor eDrive setup, rides on the sixth-generation Neue Klasse architecture, and features an 800-volt electrical system capable of supporting ultra-fast charging. Beyond that, BMW has remained tight-lipped.

Unofficial reports have suggested output could range from roughly 700 to 1,000 horsepower, potentially making the production car one of the most powerful models ever to wear an M badge. However, BMW has yet to confirm those numbers.

The timing of the production model also remains uncertain. Industry rumors point to a possible debut sometime in 2027, though BMW has not announced a launch date.

For now, enthusiasts can only speculate about what the future electric M lineup will look like. But if BMW eventually follows the same formula that made the M3 Touring a success, an all-electric performance wagon might not be out of the question. And judging by these renderings, the idea certainly has plenty of appeal.
