Ford has updated the 2027 F-150 with a new V6, trailer-capable BlueCruise and a rugged Carhartt special edition.

Ford Just Gave the 2027 F-150 a New Engine, Hands-Free Trailer Towing and a Carhartt Edition

Ford has unveiled the updated 2027 F-150, giving its 14th-generation full-size pickup another round of upgrades. The changes aren't dramatic on the outside, but the truck gets new grilles for different trims, fresh wheel designs, an updated engine lineup and an improved version of Ford's BlueCruise hands-free driving system.

One of the biggest additions is the special-edition F-150 Carhartt, developed with the well-known workwear brand. Based on the four-wheel-drive XLT Crew Cab, it features a revised front-end design, unique 20-inch wheels, Carhartt badging, exterior graphics and a protective bed coating. Inside, the truck gets two-tone seat coverings, contrast stitching and other Carhartt-inspired details.

The standard F-150's interior remains largely familiar, retaining the two-screen setup across the dashboard. BlueCruise, however, gets a significant upgrade. On compatible roads, the system can now operate hands-free even while towing a trailer. Ford says the feature will be available on every F-150 equipped with BlueCruise, ranging from the XLT and Tremor to higher-end Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum trims.

The new 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost becomes the base engine, replacing the previous 2.7-liter unit. According to Ford, the new engine delivers roughly 10% to 11% more torque in the range most commonly used during everyday driving. The 5.0-liter V8 with 400 horsepower returns as an option for the King Ranch and Platinum, while the 3.5-liter PowerBoost Hybrid remains part of the lineup.

For off-road buyers, Ford continues to offer the more affordable Tremor alongside the high-performance Raptor. Both retain their core off-road hardware while using simpler interior equipment. The Raptor remains available with either the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost or the supercharged V8 in the Raptor R.

In the U.S., the 2027 Ford F-150 starts at about $40,600. The F-150 Carhartt starts at $62,660 before destination charges and taxes. The updated pickup is expected to reach Ford dealerships in early 2027.
