Audi Quattro Reimagined: Unofficial Render Hints at a New Off-Road Monster
About two weeks ago, Audi’s leadership dropped a formal hint about plans for a brand-new SUV.
Roughly two weeks back, Audi’s top executives subtly confirmed that the company is considering the launch of a new off-road SUV — one that could take aim at icons like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Land Rover Defender.
According to early reports, the project might involve a body-on-frame design with generous ground clearance and a robust all-wheel-drive setup. While enthusiasts speculate about what this potential model might bring, the first unofficial renders have already surfaced online, giving a glimpse of what such a rugged Audi could look like.

The artist behind the images remains unknown, but their vision portrays a menacing off-road beast — tall stance, slim headlights, a compact grille, heavy-duty bumpers, flared wheel arches, and aggressive, toothy tires.
In expedition-ready trims, the SUV could sport an advanced roof rack with auxiliary lighting and proudly carry the legendary Quattro name — a nod to Audi’s iconic all-wheel-drive heritage.

When it comes to a suitable chassis, the options within the Volkswagen Group are limited. The existing body-on-frame platforms from the VW Tera and Scout Traveler could serve as a starting point.
If so, Audi’s future G-Wagen rival might inherit a full AWD system with front and rear differential locks — and possibly even a fully electric powertrain offering substantial range.
As for when the project will see the light of day, Audi has yet to reveal any timeline or official details.
