Toyota Grand Highlander, Over 16 Feet Long, Appears in New Render

A first look at how Toyota’s biggest crossover might soon evolve.

Toyota Grand Highlander, Over 16 Feet Long, Appears in New Render

Back in February 2023, Toyota pulled the covers off the Grand Highlander, a stretched, family-focused alternative to the regular Highlander. The U.S. remains its primary—and so far exclusive—market, though Toyota hasn’t ruled out selling it elsewhere later on.

Now the upsized Highlander is approaching its first full refresh, and an artist from the Digimods Design studio has sketched out what that update might look like.

According to his vision, the redesigned Grand Highlander could see a fairly dramatic makeover at both ends. The front and rear would adopt Toyota’s latest design language—the same direction seen on the Crown, Camry, Prius, and the new RAV4—though with a few tweaks to suit the model’s proportions.

In this imagined update, the Grand Highlander might receive a large horseshoe-shaped LED daytime running light, an all-new grille, squared-off main headlight units, a fresh taillight bar inspired by the latest RAV4, redesigned bumpers, and body-color cladding around the wheel arches.

No major mechanical changes are expected. The current model rides on Toyota’s GA-K platform. It measures about 201 inches long (roughly 16.7 feet) with a wheelbase of 114 inches.

Today, the Grand Highlander is sold in three powertrains:

  • a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 270 hp
  • a 2.5-liter hybrid producing 246 hp
  • and a 2.4-liter Hybrid Max setup delivering 367 hp

Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Toyota is expected to unveil the refreshed Grand Highlander sometime in 2026.
