Nio’s Firefly Expands Into Greece, Denmark, Austria, and Portugal as Its Global Push Accelerates

Nio’s Firefly hatchback is entering four new European markets as the brand works to build up its overseas sales volume.

Nio’s Firefly Expands Into Greece, Denmark, Austria, and Portugal as Its Global Push Accelerates

Nio’s Firefly electric hatchback has officially reached four additional European countries, marking another move in the company’s broader export strategy. The first customer deliveries have already taken place in Denmark and Greece, while buyers in Austria and Portugal can now place pre-orders.

Firefly is Nio’s entry-level sub-brand aimed at younger drivers. Its debut model launched in China in April 2025 with pricing between $16,960 and $17,810. Between April and October, 26,009 units were delivered domestically, according to China EV DataTracker. Earlier this year, Firefly also entered Norway, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

Expansion gains speed across Europe

On December 10, the company announced that deliveries of the Firefly EV had begun in Denmark and Greece. In Denmark, the hatchback is priced at roughly $32,680–$35,800. In Greece, pricing ranges from $37,100 to $39,420, depending on the configuration.

Pre-orders have also opened in Austria and Portugal, where the Firefly EV is listed at $35,930–$37,780. Customers who placed early pre-orders can purchase the base model for $34,770. In Norway, the Firefly EV sells for $27,500–$29,470, while in the Netherlands it ranges between $34,770 and $37,790.

Norway’s lower pricing is expected—because the country is outside the EU, Nio cars aren’t subject to the additional 21% import duty. Even so, the car is still about 40% more expensive there than it is in China. According to Elbilstatistikk, 28 Firefly units have been delivered in Norway so far in 2025.

Standard features on the entry model include a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, and heated front seats and steering wheel. The top trim adds a power liftgate, sunroof, and power front seats with ventilation and massage. Next year, a right-hand-drive version will reach the UK, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

More about the Firefly EV

The Firefly EV is a compact hatchback recognizable by its circular headlights. Its dimensions are:

  • Length: 157.6 in
  • Width: 70.1 in
  • Height: 61.3 in
  • Wheelbase: 102.9 in

For reference, it is 5.7 inches longer than the Mini Cooper built by Spotlight Automotive. Inside, it features a 13.2-inch floating center display, a 6-inch digital instrument cluster, and 14 speakers.

The Firefly EV uses a 105-kW (141-hp) electric motor that allows it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 8.2 seconds. Its 42.1-kWh battery delivers up to 205 miles of range under WLTP conditions.
