AC GT SuperSport: 1,039-HP Roadster from Britain’s Oldest Car Maker
British automaker AC Cars has unveiled its flagship GT SuperSport, the most powerful version of the AC Cobra GT Roadster.
British automaker AC Cars has announced its new flagship sports car, the GT SuperSport, the most powerful variant of the AC Cobra GT Roadster. It will feature a tuned V8 producing 1,039 horsepower. Production is set to begin in 2027, with only 25 units planned.
The original AC Cars was founded in 1901 by the Weller brothers and has changed ownership multiple times over its long history. Today, it’s recognized as the oldest British car manufacturer.

A key model in AC’s history is the Ace roadster, which debuted in 1953. In 1962, the Ace received a powerful Ford V8 from legendary American designer Carroll Shelby and was renamed the Cobra. While the classic AC Cobra is no longer produced, numerous replicas exist, including those from Shelby American.

In 2022, Swiss investor David Konza joined AC Cars and became CEO. He set out to modernize the company and develop a completely new Cobra with contemporary components and a carbon-fiber body. The new AC Cobra GT Roadster, powered by a 5.0-liter V8, was introduced in 2023, followed in 2024 by the AC Cobra GT Coupe based on the same platform.

Also in 2024, responding to customer requests, AC Cars revived the classic AC Ace roadster and launched budget-friendly versions of the new Cobra with a 2.0-liter engine. The company is now expanding rapidly, opening a new U.S. branch—AC Cars America—last month, alongside the announcement of the new flagship roadster, the AC GT SuperSport.

The AC GT SuperSport is essentially the most powerful and aggressive-looking version of the AC Cobra GT Roadster, featuring widened aerodynamic elements, including a massive rear wing. While the top GT Roadster’s supercharged V8 produces 663 horsepower, the GT SuperSport boosts output to 1,039 horsepower, promising truly insane acceleration. Further technical details are scarce, as production and deliveries won’t start until 2027.
AC Cars will produce only 25 examples of the GT SuperSport, each priced at a minimum of $550,000 before taxes. Priority will be given to loyal customers who value AC Cars’ history and heritage.
