Nissan NX8 EREV: A Crossover With CATL 5C Ultra-Fast Charging and an 800-Volt Platform

Nissan has officially unveiled the new NX8 EREV, marking the brand’s first crossover built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform and featuring CATL’s advanced 5C ultra-fast charging technology.

The model will be offered in two versions: an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and a fully electric (EV) variant. The NX8 is based on Dongfeng Nissan’s Tianyan architecture and uses next-generation CATL batteries, enabling rapid charging and an electric-only driving range of up to about 115 miles (185 km) on the CLTC cycle.

Styling follows Nissan’s signature V-motion design language. Highlights include a full-width LED light strip stretching nearly 7.9 feet across the front, matrix LED headlights, flush door handles, and a distinctive rear light bar made up of a “quantum” OLED panel with 2,064 individual elements.

In terms of size, the NX8 measures approximately 191.7 inches long, 75.6 inches wide, and 66.1 inches tall, with a wheelbase of 114.8 inches. Buyers can choose between 19-inch or 20-inch wheels. Curb weight ranges from roughly 4,840 to 4,950 pounds, depending on configuration.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine used as a generator, producing 146 horsepower (109 kW), paired with a 261-horsepower (195 kW) electric motor. Top speed is rated at about 112 mph. The NX8 also supports a suite of intelligent driving features, including highway and urban navigation assist (NOA) as well as a full set of automated parking functions.
